What is an Oracle?

An oracle is a piece of wisdom from the Universe. It can be an announcement that something is on the way, or a piece of guidance or advice. Anything can be an oracle: a dream, an animal sighting, or something you read. All cultures since the beginning of time have used oracles to help to predict the outcomes of their actions – be it planting, moving the tribe, harvesting a crop, or going to war. Ancient oracles were made of bone, tortoise shell, carved animal horn, and shells.

Today we use cards, coins, and the stars to guide us and make the unknowable known. When we use oracles, we share a conversation with a wisdom and consciousness higher than ourselves, and always in our corner. Oracles want to be thought of as good friends and helpers, and they have a great sense of humor. They don’t want us to take ourselves, or them, too seriously.
